Getting to grips with my expensive new toy

I'm getting there slowly!  At the pace of a snail, I'm making my way through my photography guide.  Unfortunately i'm only taking in a page or so a night, so it may take me a while!  But last weekend after a BBQ at O's parents place I jumped out of bed early on sunday morning and made the most of the spare five minutes I had before we had to dash off to get our train back to London.  The images aren't great, but its taking me a while to get my head around all these new photography terms and the more I get out there, the more confident I will feel!  O's mum tells me the flowers in her stunning garden will be out in full force in the next couple of weeks, so I'm going to get down there again!  Fingers crossed then for some more gorgeous weekends!

It's got to be fuchsia

Missing my train in Victoria is damaging my bank account!  I either get tempted by tasty but expensive food in Marks and Spencer or HMV inspires me to start spending on i-tunes!  Yesterday, I popped into superdrug and treated myself to a bright pink fuchsia lipstick!  Now i'm the girl who up until December 2009 never wore any lipstick or gloss and now I'm going all out!  The below shots have been inspiring me though.

Summer Parties

The trouble with living in a top floor flat in London means I unfortunately I don't have any outside space!  I've already said to O, then when we venture onto the next step on the property ladder, my one request is to have a little garden!  Just somewhere to be able sit outside on a hot summer evening with a nice cold glass of wine!

At the moment, I'm planning on being able to throw outdoor parties in this space and would love to be able to string lots of beautiful lanterns to keep us partying long after the sun goes down!  The below images are in my head what I want to achieve, I fear however that the reality will not be quite so beautiful!  But one can dream!

Isn't the internet a fully old world!

Playing around on weheartit this evening I stumbled across the below image!  I loved it, the colours and illustration really reminded me of my print from Hennie Haworth that I adore.  The illustration is by Mia Overgaard and I was so fascinated by it that I had to google her and I spent some time looking through all her beautiful creations!  One of the first images I came across was one of Stephen Webster, which was a total surprise, seeing as I work for him and I wasn't aware of the image via any press in the office.

Last summer whilst walking about in London I kept spotting the below flyer posted across the city.  I loved the design and often wondered who the artist was, and yes you guessed it!  It was by Mia!  Don't you just love the internet for this type of thing!  Anyway I throughly recommend you looking at her site, her designs are stunning and she has a great imagination and feel for beautiful colours.

Spotted on...

I spotted this image on Homeshoppingspy's blog today and love it!  I always love images of flowers in old jam jars and bottles but adore the added extra of the orgami papers.  The image is from Sania Pell's new book Homemade Home.  The book is choc full of great and individual projects for the home!  One to add to the Amazon wish list!

To dye or not to dye!

I'm bored!  Bored with my brown hair!  I want to be red head... however, i'm not a big one for change and to be honest I'm a bit of wuss when it comes to hair!  But I've started taking notice of red-heads, I'm a huge fan of Florence below and I've got a bit of an obsession with Karen Gillan aka Amy Pond and it's got me thinking that maybe I should throw some caution to the wind and reach for the hair-dye!

I spotted the below hairstyle/colour in a hair mag whilst killing time waiting for my train in Victoria station and i'm pretty damn tempted to go for it!  My haircut is pretty simillar, so I just need the balls to get down to the hairdressers and tell them to go for it!  What do you think?
